1953 F5 Tornado (2005)FlintHistory.com exclusive! On June 8, 1953 an F5 tornado, the ninth deadliest in the nation's history, and the deadliest of the last 50 years, touched down in Flint Beecher, killing 116 people and wounded over 800 more. To Touch A Child (1962)FlintHistory.com exclusive! In 1937, Frank Manley obtained funding from Charles S. Mott to run afterschool programs in Flint Schools, the first of their kind in the nation. The premise: Why not use empty school buildings for community programs, events, and organizations? The Community Schools concept, along with the Community School Directors, brought national acclaim and was copied throughout the nation.
Master Hands: The Chevrolet Factory (1936)These factory scenes shot in the summer of 1936 show the Chevrolet Manufacturing process at the (now destroyed) factory on Chevrolet Avenue.
